All of these isn't important to us, because as you can see different people have different opinion. One of the clearest examples is two XiaoMings with two opinions.

But the point of this article is to talk about what we think we pay for the RM18 cup of coffee.

Here is MY OPINION before Googling for answers and before doing some research.

There are many reasons a company charge their customers more than the ordinary could, from research and development to quality control and marketing. It's the only way an international company could be so successful.

It's the part of the article where we open our eyes to the real world and come out of imagination. Let's face the truth, it's way more complicated than what we think. Let's take Starbucks as an example, here's a graph on the tiny numbers we don't even know existed (Unless you already knew it.), it's not all bad because they are an international company.

Outcome:
Your drink: Around RM2.50
Free WiFi and A/C: Around RM2.70 (Delivery or Pick Up is not worth it)
The Store: Around RM5
Other Stuffs: Around RM6
Every RM18 cup, the employess get around RM1.60, but there have been reports saying they underpay workers, make a quick search on "starbucks underpays employees" to learn more.

Conclusion:
Leaving at the moment you got your coffee is like donating RM15 to the coin box, but it's to support the brand. To get back what you pay for, you should study or read a book there, but not sleeping there.

Verdict:
It's expensive not because of the coffee, it's all because of the cozy and chill place. People often mistake it as rich people coffee, because of the price. No. You're paying to relax and chill out with your friends. Did you see any staff asking you to buy more or leave the coffee shop?

Still, it's not bad to buy expensive products, as you are paying for the lifestyle and premium services, everyone has their favourite product and they buy what they want.

"For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you're not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn't going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness." –Andy Rooney
